The Position
DMV Services Manager's plan, organize, coordinate, develop, and implement a broad variety of services and programs provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
The position is located in the Field Services Division and oversees all DMV metropolitan and rural offices. The incumbent reports directly to the Division Administrator. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating a broad range of DMV services provided statewide. To accomplish this, the incumbent supervises six DMV Services Manager III's and two DMV Services Manager I's encompassing eighteen branch offices, and provides general support to the managers throughout the State, ensuring a visible and active presence at department sites by traveling to each site and maintaining consistent contact. The incumbent is also responsible for handling employee relations; establishing policies and contributing to the development of departmental policy; exercising executive control and final action on major projects within the policies established by the department; and developing and managing budgets to include determining and monitoring the need for and cost of equipment and supplies, overtime, travel, training, publications, data processing, printing, and committee, conference and meeting requirements. Must perform other duties as assigned. NRS 293.504 identifies the Department of Motor Vehicles as a voter registration agency. NRS 293.5045 states, a voter registration agency shall not knowingly employ a person whose duties will include the registration of voters if the person has been convicted of a felony involving theft or fraud.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, or other discipline related to the position and five years of increasingly responsible professional experience which included program development and resource management, at least one year of which was at the managerial level; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and nine years of varied and increasingly responsible experience related to registration/titling of motor vehicles or licensing motor vehicle operators, at least one year of which was at the managerial level; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Qualifying experience may be substituted for the education required above the high school level on a year for year basis.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
The Examination

If there are more than 5 eligible applicants the exam will consist of a rating of a training and experience questionnaire weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. 3) Do you have experience in interpreting, explaining and applying complex State and Federal regulations as it relates to drivers license, registration, emission control or business programs, including the explanation of relevant state traffic laws?
4) Do you have experience in supervision to include problem solving skills, negotiation skills, and the ability to encourage and motivate staff to provide excellent customer service?
5) Do you have experience in written and oral communications to include report preparation, oral presentations, letters and correspondence, policies and procedures, developing bill drafts and presenting testimony before legislative committees?
6) Do you have experience in the development and oversight of program related goals and objectives, research, analysis of data and implementation of results/changes to your organization?
