The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
This position will be located at the Department of Education in CARSON CITY OR LAS VEGAS and is a Programmer Analyst for DOE's data collection and collaboration application. Incumbent will Develop, test and document computer programs and system applications, maintain program code, determine file access levels, develop reports, and maintain other system artifacts. Employee will demonstrate ability to troubleshoot assigned application processing issues. The incumbent will participate in the data model expansion of the Bighorn Education Portal
Preferred experience is as follows: 1) In MSSQL, ASP, .NET, C#, VB or JAVA. 2) In managing enterprise wide MSSQL deployments and be able to administer, maintain and engineer MSSQL environment. 3) In monitoring, administrating, and managing multiple SharePoint sites and/or servers and services. 4) In monitoring, responding to and resolving MSSQL related problems. 5) In writing and managing stored procedures.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Statewide travel is required.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience in managing and configuring data base or application security, monitoring SQL server and stored procedures for performance analysis and database optimization.
