The Position
Group Supervisors perform duties involving the education, employment, training, treatment, care and custody of juvenile offenders residing within a State Youth Training Center; maintain comprehensive records of assigned youths' program activities; and provide individual guidance pursuant to State or federal laws and regulations.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

This position is located within the Nevada Youth Training Center in Elko, Nevada. **PLEASE NOTE: Elko is located in rural northern Nevada and is 308 miles from the State capitol of Carson City, Nevada; and is 472 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada.**

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of general work or volunteer experience which included working with the public or clients and coordinating or supervising work, people, or activities; OR sixty semester credits from an accredited college or university with emphasis in psychology, social work, criminal justice, education or related field and one year of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Incumbents must obtain and maintain current first aid certification as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Per NAC 284.317, applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
