JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is a full-time position that will assist clients at the Hawthorne Mental Health Center in meeting their goals by providing peer support, assisting in basic skills training groups, assisting in the completion of applications for community services, and providing clients with transportation to and from important appointments. This is an excellent entry-level position for anyone interested in a career in social work. This position requires incumbents to transport clients to and from scheduled appointment, school, and outings using State vehicles and public transportation. Therefore, incumbents are required to possess a current, State of Nevada Driver's License.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience, two of which were paraprofessional experience in a hospital, institutional, or residential setting providing care, treatment, training and supervision for individuals with mental illness. In addition, applicants must have attained valid certification as required by statute and regulation; OR three years of experience which included one year as a Mental Health Technician II in Nevada State service and valid certification as required by statute and regulation.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
