The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse V, the Administrative Assistant II performs a variety of clerical support duties within the clinical department of the Nevada State Veterans Home. This position is responsible for scheduling resident appointments, laboratory testing and x-rays, process medical records into data system, maintain clinical manuals, prepare discharge documents for transfers, send correspondence to physicians and various other individuals as necessary, maintain stock of supplies, answer telephones, assist residents and visitors, perform quantitative and/or qualitative audits of medical records. Incumbents in this class work in a long-term care facility located in Boulder City, Nevada.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires medical clerical experience as a ward clerk, physician's front office or unit secretary in a long term care facility.
