The Position
Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
Under the direct clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist, incumbents perform the duties described in the series concept in a trainee capacity. Incumbents may be automatically progressed to Licensed Psychologist I upon receipt of licensure as a psychologist in the State of Nevada
Provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient, outpatient and/or community settings, at a program for persons with emotional disturbances, mental illness, or developmental disabilities, or in a forensic or correctional facility. Professional duties are performed in accordance with license requirements of the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES position provides therapy, day treatment, and targeted clinical case management to children, from birth through six years, and their families. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for teaching and supervising clinicians and reviewing all clinical documentation to ensure that treatment is appropriate and effective. Other duties include supervision of seven Mental Health Counselors II and serving as the lead mental health consultant to the Head Start program in the community. THE PLANNING AND EVALUATION UNIT position must have the knowledge, experience and expertise to conduct program evaluation, quality assurance, and quality improvement activities for children?s mental health. This position provides leadership and technical expertise needed to design and conduct evaluation of programs within DCFS Children?s Mental Health and in the community. This position administers, scores, and interprets tests for individual clients and for program evaluation. This position develops and conducts training within DCFS Children's Mental Health and in the community on clinical assessment methods, clinical topics, and intervention approaches. DESERT WILLOW TREATMENT position provides psychological services at Desert Willow Treatment Center, a 24/7 psychiatric hospital providing mental health services to children and adolescents. This position performs clinical services consistent with the standards of the American Psychological Association and the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners. The primary duties of this position include performing psychological evaluations and testing; providing psychological/behavior consultations; providing treatment and discharge planning; and providing individual, family, and group therapy. This position performs administrative duties such as developing policies and resources, developing programs, teaching, and managing a continuous quality improvement team as required by the Joint Commission.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Doctorate in Psychology and an approved internship agreement with the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners.
Special Requirements
    Maintenance of an approved internship with the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners is required and must be maintained as a condition of continuing employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Psychological Assistants must maintain an approved internship with the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners as a condition of continuing employment.
