The Position
Corrections Counselors within in the Nevada Department of Corrections provide mental health services to offenders in a correctional setting including interviews, behavioral planning and implementation, consultation, psycho-educational classes, research, and training.
Psychologist III's perform advanced clinical and programmatic work requiring a doctorate in psychology, social science or human service discipline.
This is a supervisory and clinical position; responsible for managing a staff of mental health professionals and an administrative assistant at Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center (FMWCC). This position ensures that mental health treatment and programming activities are delivered to the female inmate general population in a timely manner; that crisis call events are immediately responded to and that treatment is consistently offered to the specially housed inmates that are seriously mentally ill. Additionally, this position is tasked with statistical tracking and psychological report submissions to the Parole Board and Psych Panel.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in clinical psychology, counseling, education, social work, or closely related field and three years of post-doctoral experience providing therapy, psychological testing and programmatic services in a correctional, rehabilitative, clinic or institutional setting; OR a Doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in clinical psychology from an accredited school of professional psychology, and three years of experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
PSYCHOLOGIST III (10.126) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.
