The Position
Certified Nursing Assistants perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services related to the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position supports the Nevada State Veterans Home (NSVH) located at 100 Veterans Memorial Drive in Boulder City. Boulder City is located just minutes away from the City of Henderson. Our mission is to provide skilled nursing services to veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star parents. Our nursing staff-to-resident ratios promote quality patient care and our "team" approach encourages participation at all levels. This recruitment is a continuous recruitment for positions as they become available at the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada. Under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse, Certified Nursing Assistants provide personal care which includes assisting the residents with activities of daily living in accordance with Nevada State Veterans Home policy and procedures and the Nevada Nurse Practice Act. Monitoring and reporting vital signs including weight and pain; ensures adequate hydration and nutrition and reports any concerns. Incumbents are responsible for documenting the care given to and the specific parameters of health status monitored for the residents. Responds to residents requests noting changes and pertinent information. This is a 24-hour facility; therefore, incumbent may be assigned to shift work. Nursing Assistant and CPR certification information must be listed under the Professional License section of your applicant profile.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant and six months of experience performing work as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant Trainee. The six months of job related experience may be part of a formal Certified Nursing Assistant training program.
Special Requirements
    CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment for the Certified Nursing Assistant and Lead Certified Nursing Assistant levels.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience utilizing a computer system to access email, complete electronic timesheets and enter resident data in facility software program.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
