The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
This open recruitment is for the Rawson Neal Psychiatric Hospital, Inpatient Hospital and the Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services Outpatient Clinics. In order to receive consideration, applicants must indicate their availability to work in this geographical location.
As a first line supervisor, provides professional nursing care to mentally ill, mentally retarded, and/or mentally and physically ill (or disabled) individuals, in an institution or out-patient setting; identifies patient health care needs; prepares nursing care plans, participates in multi-disciplinary treatment teams; administers medications; assists in physical examinations and diagnostic testing; develops/implements nursing discharge plans; performs quality assurance and/or utilization review audits and compliance activities; and supervises paraprofessional and technical staff. Ability to work well under pressure; posses leadership skills; be a team player and maintain work performance standards.
PURSUANT TO NRS 284.4066 ALL POSITIONS IN THIS CLASS MUST FIRST SUBMIT TO A PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING TEST FOR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and three years of professional nursing experience, two of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or mental retardation; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
A bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.
Special Requirements
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting is required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
