The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Wildlife Area Supervisors manage one or more Wildlife Management Areas by planning, budgeting, supervising, and performing maintenance and development activities to provide for an efficient operation and preserve wildlife resources and associated habitat.
Position supervises a Wildlife Area Technician and is responsible for program management, work program implementation, documentation and development; operates and maintains equipment utilized on the management area; is responsible for habitat maintenance and development following the Annual Work Plan for development and maintenance of the diverse habitats in the area.
This position is located in a remote area, approximately 70 miles south of Ely on State Highway 318; 170 miles north of Las Vegas and 75 miles north of Alamo. Department housing is not available for this position.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of journey level experience in installing and maintaining wildlife structures; operating equipment to maintain suitable habitats for wildlife; conducting surveys and inventory of wildlife and associated habitat; netting, trapping and banding of wildlife; and providing for security of wildlife management areas; OR one year of experience as a Wildlife Area Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

WILDLIFE AREA SUPERVISOR I (01.771) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

3) Describe your experience, including number of years, in noxious and invasive weed control in the following areas: A) Plant identification skills; B) Co-operative weed management group participation; C) Herbicide application training.
4) Describe your experience, including number of years, in wildlife survey in the following areas: A) Species identification; B) gathering, compiling, analyzing and reporting data.
5) Describe your experience, including number of years, working with the following regulatory entities: A) OSHA; B) Workers' Compensation; C) Environmental protection agencies; D) Corps of Engineers; E) United States Fish and Wildlife Service; F) Historic preservation agencies; G) ADA; H) Building code enforcement; I) Fire codes - CO2, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers; J) Agriculture departments.
6) Describe your experience, including number of years, developing and implementing workplace safety programs.
