The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Theater Technicians perform skilled technical work including the setup and operation of sound and lighting systems and other stage devices, construction of stage scenery and props, and maintenance of equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The incumbent is responsible for setting up, operating, and striking audio, video, theatrical lighting, props and stage rigging for all UNLV Performing Arts Center events. Additional duties include testing, evaluating and repairing all theatrical equipment as needed. The successful applicant must be well versed in theatrical lighting design and implementation, including computerized lighting console operation and programming. A working knowledge of Vectorworks is desired.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of skilled experience in the setup and operation of lighting and sound equipment and set construction; OR two years of experience as a Theater Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Education above the high school level in technical theater or closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of 30 semester credits being equal to six months of experience up to a maximum of one year of the required experience.
