The Position
Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation
of the State's natural resources.
This position is open at all three levels and may be filled at any level. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the level that best fits their education and experience. Position is funded from the US Fish & Wildlife Service Connecting Children with Nature grant that ends 9/30/11. Continuation of position will be dependent on continued grant funding.
This position will be responsible for leading classrooms on nature trail hikes at the Oxbow Nature Study Area and Verdi Nature Trail, participating in, developing and presenting lesson plans on Trout in the Classroom, developing and interpreting lesson plans and interpretive materials and developing and implementing lesson plans for Project WILD, Aquatic WILD and ensuring they are correlated State Department of Education Standards. Classroom or teaching experience a plus but not required.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of experience assisting in resource conservation projects or wildlife management projects; OR six months experience as a Conservation Aid I in Nevada State service; OR 15 college credits in wildlife management, biology or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
