The Position
Health Facilities Inspectors conduct inspections of health care facilities and services such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, inmate medical care in prisons and transitional living facilities, intermediate care facilities, home health agencies, health care referral agencies, community triage centers, facilities for refractive laser surgery, ambulatory surgical centers, facilities for treatment of irreversible renal disease, medical laboratories, independent physician offices, rural health clinics, hospices, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitative facilities, outpatient physical therapy facilities, adult day care and group care facilities, alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers and half-wayhouses, obstetrical centers, independent centers for emergency medical care, rehabilitation clinics, occupational and physical therapists, and other facilities and practitioners as directed.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
These positions are located within the Nevada State Health Division's, Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance, Carson City and Las Vegas. Health Facilities Surveyors inspect health care facilities including hospitals; skilled nursing facilities; intermediate care facilities; intermediate care facilities for the mentally retarded; home health agencies; ambulatory surgical centers; facilities for the treatment of irreversible renal disease; hospital laboratories; independent, physician office, and environmental laboratories; rural health clinics; hospices; comprehensive outpatient rehabilitative facilities; independent physical therapists; outpatient physical therapy facilities; portable X-Ray facilities; adult day care facilities; adult group care facilities; alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers; obstetrical centers; independent centers for emergency medical care; rehabilitation clinics; and occupational and physical therapists.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, health care administration, the medical or biological sciences, or a related field of study; three years of professional health administration experience, including supervisory, administrative, inspection, or regulatory responsibilities; and one year of experience as an inspector or surveyor in a state or federal regulatory program which involved the inspection, licensing, and complaint investigation of health care facilities to determine compliance with state and federal laws; OR the requirements as specified for the Health Facilities Surveyor I - Nurse or one of the Options for Dietitian, Sanitarian, Medical Technologist, or Social Worker at the Health Facilities Surveyor I level; and one year of experience as an inspector or surveyor in a state or federal regulatory program which involved the inspection, licensing, and complaint investigation of health care facilities to determine compliance with state and federal laws; OR one year of experience as a Health Facilities Surveyor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Current certification, licensure, or registration by the appropriate licensing board in the State of Nevada is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained as a condition of continuing employment.
