The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Under general supervision, incumbent assists in a specialized phase of grounds service, answerable to a Grounds Supervisor or Facility Supervisor at all Nevada National Guard Military Bases. The Grounds Maintenance Worker 4 (GMW4) plans and schedules routine activities and oversees team members, including work assignments, work reviews, training and performs technical work on facility irrigation systems. GMW4 will schedule irrigation according to city, State, and Military regulations, events, seasonal demands, and adverse weather conditions. In addition, incumbent performs preventative maintenance and makes repairs by maintaining and cleaning wells and storage tanks, repairing controllers, valve lines, sprinklers and backflow preventers. Positions in this class are distinguished from those at the lower level by having responsibility for other permanent team members, including the timely and accurate completion of tasks assigned to the grounds worker crew or by having the technical knowledge required to construct, maintain, and repair a complex network of irrigation systems that has a greater impact on the grounds service budget and the overall landscape program.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Two years of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools and techniques; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position may require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
