The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists. 
The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension in LOGANDALE, Nevada is recruiting for a part-time (6 hours per week) Grounds Maintenance Worker 2. The position will perform seasonal landscape and grounds maintenance, irrigation modification and repair, pruning and chipping. The position requires the use of a chainsaw and chipper.
The work schedule is Friday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Pursuant to Nevada Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are subject to a mandatory unpaid furlough requirement of six days (part-time prorated) per fiscal year effective July 1, 2013. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Six months of experience performing basic grounds maintenance work; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires working in Logandale, NV. Logandale, NV is 30 minutes southwest of Mesquite, NV.
    This position requires working 6 hours per week and is non-benefits eligible.
    This position requires having a valid driver's license at the time of application and as a condition of continued employment.
