Transportation Planner/Analysts participate in transportation system analysis, a continuing comprehensive and cooperative planning process, research programs or projects, safety programs and/or related functional areas as mandated by, and within the guidelines of, federal, State and local authorities; monitor, develop and implement State and federal funding and programming/planning requirements and ensure compliance with federal funding requirements.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is within the Rural Programs of Multimodal Program Development and will serve as the departments Aviation & Rural Consultations and participate in the coordination and administration of these programs. This will include but not limited to airport inspections and county consultations for participation in the development of long-range statewide transportation plan and the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Provide guidance, outreach, and education, to rural airports and partners. Bringing stakeholders together that may have different desired outcomes can be challenging and this incumbent should have a strong skillset to working with diverse groups to formulate a desired outcome/compromise. The incumbent must have a strong aptitude for relationship building, effective negotiating and communication skills both oral and written, to achieve a cooperative transportation planning process and harmonization of aviation and rural needs and concerns. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, business administration, planning, math, geography, economics, statistics, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR graduation from high school and four years of experience collecting, compiling, analyzing and reviewing data and developing reports; OR four years of experience as a Transportation Technician II or three years of experience as a Transportation Technician III in Nevada State service. |

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of application and for continuing employment. |
