The Position
Prison Industries Supervisors manage, plan, organize and supervise operation(s) of Prison Industries program(s) and ensure their profitable operation.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
Positions at this level report to the Prison Industries Marketing Coordinator and oversee day-to-day production activities in assigned industries including print shop, furniture shop, metal shop, mattress shop and ranch operations. Incumbents supervise the performance of subordinate staff members and incarcerated offenders manufacturing goods or providing services; monitor work safety and security procedures; develop production schedules; and communicate with customers and vendors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Graphic design preferred. Incumbents may be assigned to deliver and install productions in various locations statewide. Incumbents are responsible for maintaining the fiscal budget and providing customer service to enhance customer satisfaction and shop profitability. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or closely related field and two years of supervisory experience in a business environment producing manufactured goods or providing services including setting production/work schedules, recordkeeping, and ensuring the availability of required materials, supplies, equipment and tools; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Positions in this series may require industry specific education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
