Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the District II- Utility Inspector Permits Section in Reno. Incumbent will process encroachment permits throughout the eight counties for the public as well as for NDOT contracts in Northwest Nevada.
Duties include reviewing permit applications and performing field reviews to ensure compliance with Department standards and policies;
exercising judgment impacting daily operations; interactions with the public and ;
inspection of Outdoor advertising in accordance with the Nevada Revised Statue, permit construction inspections,
site reviews,
and implementation of field changes as required. Preparation of technical engineering memoranda and letters.
Design, process, and manage to completion District contracts and special projects by preparing contract plans, specifications, and estimates.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
