Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting to fill the Electrician I position on the Signs and Lighting crew in Reno/Sparks, Nevada.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and install or remove wiring, circuit breakers, and lighting, in accordance with code requirements; study blueprints and schematics, calculate electrical load; design new circuits based on the load; gain access to components and systems; perform installation; update blueprints; inspect electrical systems of structures for conformance with specifications and code requirements.

Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. |

A valid Class A or B commercial driver's license is required within six months of employment |
