Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in the Specifications Section of the Design Division, Carson City. Incumbent performs engineering work to provide Quality Control/Quality Assurance of plan, specification, and estimate submittals including verifying unit prices of proposed bid items; reviews the project scope of work, methods of construction and items of work involved, and determines whether requirements are clearly stated in the plans and standard specifications or whether requirements need to be addressed in special provisions. This position will also compile and write special provisions. When necessary, incumbent will generate supplemental special provisions for advertised contracts to incorporate changes into the bid package before bids are submitted. ** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL A STAFF II, ASSOCIATE ENGINEER. THIS IS THE ENTRY LEVEL IN THE SERIES AND INCUMBENT MAY PROGRESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL UPON MEETING THE MINIUM QUALIFICATIONS, SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE, AND WITH APPROVAL OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
