Cartographic/Graphics Technician's produce maps which are geographic representations facilitating a special understanding of objects, concepts, conditions, processes or events in the world; provide illustrations for publications, presentations and grant applications/reports; and create manual covers, forms, charts, graphs and materials.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
NDOT utilizes graphic design as visual storytelling to educate and engage. We're looking for a talented graphic artist to work as part of NDOT's multi-person graphic design and multi-media staff, including: Produce a wide variety of print and digital products, media files, publications, digital, and other multi-media content including, but not limited to logo, flyer and report design, event and other signage, display and digital graphics and more. Under supervision, operate a variety of multi-media and production equipment such as graphic design software, programs and files, print laminating and framing hardware and more. Experience producing bilingual and social media content is preferred, along with expertise in Mac-based graphics design.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in computer graphics, multimedia, geography, geology, or closely related field and three years of cartography experience which included experience in at least one of the following areas: desktop publishing, graphic design, mapping, and/or drafting; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Cartographic/Graphics Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
