Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The position is located at South Fork State Recreation Area, Spring Creek NV. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for the maintenance of South Fork and Wild Horse State Recreation Areas and may also be required to assist in the maintenance of the other 12 State Parks located throughout Northern Nevada as necessary.
Incumbents perform a variety of skilled work in the buildings and mechanical trades in order to repair, construct and/or maintain buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles.
Incumbents work directly under the direction of the Facility Manager and may serve as a lead worker to semi-skilled or general staff. The position will participate in the area of facility management by planning projects and inspecting work completed by contractors for compliance with plans and specifications. Incumbents may be required to work various hours and shifts including holidays and weekends.
This position requires knowledge of structures, facilities, systems and equipment; national, state and local buildings and fire codes; standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades. Prepare work orders, requisitions and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and electrical schematics. Plan projects, sketch work drawings and layout materials. Estimate the materials and time required to complete projects; operate various diagnostic and testing equipment; safely perform a variety of skilled work including: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, welding and HVAC.

Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades and one year of journey level experience which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR one year of journey level experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. |

A Water Distribution Operator I certificate issued by the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection will be required and must be obtained within 18 months of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
